Our Values

We believe…

Therefore we seek to introduce children, youth, and adults to Jesus (2 Cor 5:20) so they may experience His salvation (Luke 19:9-10).
Therefore no matter the style of worship or music (Eph 5:19-20), we seek to enable people to experience Jesus Christ, to be led by the Holy Spirit, and to respond to the transforming love and power of God as revealed in the Scriptures (Heb 4:12).
Therefore we encourage people to be transformed (Rom 12:1-2) by becoming fully mature in Christ (Col 1:28-29), by becoming people of prayer and experiencing intimacy with God (John 15:5-8), by striving for holiness (I Thess 4:7-8), and by becoming part of loving Christian relationships (Acts 2:42-47). This happens in many ways at First United Methodist Church, including our Sunday School classes and small group Bible studies where we grow closer to God and care for one another.
Our staff and lay leaders work together to lead His church because we know we can accomplish infinitely more together than apart. Each member of our church family is expected to find their unique calling and gifting to build up the church for God’s glory (Eph 4:11-13; I Peter 4:10-11).
We believe Jesus when he said, “it is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35).
The church does not exist for us (I Peter 2:9-12). We are the church and we exist to impact our community and to show compassion toward the world (Eph 2:10). John Wesley taught that the world is our parish, therefore we will physically, financially, and prayerfully engage in God’s mission locally, regionally, nationally, and around the globe (Acts 1:8).
